Camera Critter: Puppy Love
Sometimes you have those AWWWW moments when you realize your pets are loving, they are just like the kids sometimes. Our dogs will chase each other around the house most of the day but they have those occasions when they get cuddled up and are just too cute. We had a couple of those moments this week and we were actually able to get the camera and save the memories, normally if one of us move the dogs pop up and we miss the moment. Enjoy the sibling love...

Camera Critter: Ugly Spider
We spent the day cutting down the old Apple Tree in the back yard, it was an interesting experience to say the least. I had an opportunity to see all kinds of different critters and bugs, when we were finishing up I found this giant spider crawling around the debris. This spider was big, about the size of an oreo cookie and was pretty freaky looking. I have never seen a spider like this one and would love to know what type of spider it was if anyone knows.

Camera Critter : Crazy Insect
I came accross this picture of a Rhinocerous Beetle the other day and have been saving it to share with all of you, this guy is about 6" and I hear they actually can grow to about 11", I think I wouldn't want to meet up with one, but they apparently are very docile.

It's a lot of fun having a new pup around the house, you never know where you are going to find him. The other night I went to tuck the boys into bed and when I returned to the living room here was Riley...Relaxing. I was trying so hard not to bust out laughing so I could get the shot of him before he stirred.

While my wife was at work one evening I decided to have a pool/campfire party with the kids. We were all having a great time and even the dog "Breigh" was getting in on the fun.
Here is Trin and Blake roasting up some marshmellows over the campfire while Kohl and Jay were enjoying the pool. Breight is really taking notes on what the kids are doing isn't she, we should have known she was up to NO GOOD!
She got here opportunity when the kids went in for a drink and she snuck their extra marshmallows out of the cup holder in the chair. She is quite the scavenger when her nose gets a smell of something good.

Camera Critters: Flight of the Dragon

On a recent visit to my parents house (2 weeks ago) we were sitting outside on their patio chairs having a nice chat while the sun was getting ready to set and the kids were playing around the yard. All of a sudden out of no where arrived a bunch of Dragon Flies. I was shocked as I hadn't seen a Dragon Fly in a number of years it was exciting to see a bunch of them all at once and they were big too! I managed to get a picture of one as it took a breather on the chair it was very beautiful. We are heading back for another visit next weekend and hopefully we will get to see some more fun animals/insects.

Camera Critters : On the Road Again Comedy Style

We had a hilarious experience with our pup on a trip home to visit the grandparents this weekend. About an hour into the trip the dog started to act crazy and was sniffing at the air vents and travelling back and forth in the van. We finally decided to stop and let her take a nature call before heading back on our journey. This didn't work for her, after we were back on the road for a bit she started acting up again, going at the vents. We finally figured it out the Air Conditioner was sucking the smell from an open bag of dog treats at my feet up through the vents and filling the van with bacon goodness. Poor Breigh she was trying desperately to figure out where the smell of her favorite treats were coming from and finally she got them. Then to make it even more fun we went bowling last night with the kids and Grandpa sat in my seat, he picked up the bag of treats in the dark and I was telling him how great they were and cheap too thinking he could see the bag was dog treats, oops, Grandpa tried one and wasn't long spitting it out.

Camera Critter : Enjoying the sun!
We finally had some warm days and that meant it was time to start enjoying the pool, the kids wanted the pup to get cooled off with them the other day so she took a dip with them.
Here she is getting her swimming legs under her, what a graceful swimmer, she looked like she was drowning for a few minutes.
She found one of the kids floats and decided to take a break, you have to love the pose including sticking out the tongue at us.
After a good swim a girl has to dry off and warm up, Breigh does both by wrapping herself in her blanket and spazzing out.
Finally just to be sure she could have a bath, she decided to roll around on the lawn for a while and get covered in dirt and grass, she is smart one. The kids had a great day in the pool with Breigh and are looking forward to many more great days.

Here's Mr. Pig
I took a field trip with my daughters class to a historic settlement here in the Cape Breton Highlands. It was a fantastic day where we got to travel through time to the evolution of homes in this area. On the tour we got to meet some of the animals, this little Pig was very interested in what we were doing and came over snorting at the fence. I missed a great shot of a mini flock of 6 sheep that took off on the run and jumped over their rock wall fence. It was comical to see them follow the leader over the fence but it happened so fast I couldn't get the camera out of the bag in time. Check out the post below for more of the great trip!

Camera Critter Birthday Kisses
We celebrated our oldest son's birthday last weekend and as normal with tradition his mother takes icing off the cake and smears it all over his face. It usually is good for a laugh to see how she is going to outsmart him year after year but as normal she got the job done. I faked him out from behind and when he turned to defend himself she attacked. A new tradition he decided to add this year was the dog wash, he likes to share with his dog and decided she should get all the icing off his face. I'm not too sure that I would like the dog wash but they seemed to love it.

Camera Critter (Amazing Dog Tricks)
I think I have seen it all know, we were doing yard work the other day and setting up the kids pool. The dog was busy digging holes but was a little put out by making her paws dirty. She was watching the kids very intently use their shovels to dig and later on I found her trying to dig her own holes with the shovel in her paws.
Last Summer she was just a pup so she is really enjoying her new experiences in the yard. She is one hilarious member of our family and even though she still gets herself in trouble now and again, we can't imagine the house without her now.

Camera Critter
This is my first visit to the Camera Critter phenom, I am sharing a great picture of our pup we got after she had a bath, she proceeded to roll all over the beds trying to dry herself off, it was hilarious watching her jump from bed to bed and barking all the way.
