Mr. Resurgence

One of the things I am most enjoying with the current Nascar season is the resurgence of Mark Martin. After a couple of years driving part time for Gin/DEI he has returned to full time status with Hendrick Motorsport. After his win this weekend at Michigan he now has the lead in wins with 3. If not for some bad luck to start the season he would be very close to leading the points, although that really doesn't matter because of the current points system with the most wins he could be leading the points when we get to the all important chase for the championship. It would be a great Cinderella story for Nascar to see Martin finally earn the championship that has eluded him for so many years.

Talledaga days

Well after the events at Talledaga last weekend it appears as though some have not forgiven and forgotten. Carl Edwards invaded Kevin Harvicks stall and the two exchanged heated words, at some point Harvick apparently tried to turn and walk away from the situation but Carl grabbed him and spun him around, according to pictures released it appears he grabbed Harvick by the throat and Harvick quickly put him off onto the hood of his #33 Nationwide Entry leaving some damage to the hood. Will we ever know the whole story, probably not but it did turn some extra interest onto the weekends event and probably helped the TV ratings. There's nothing like a little bit of the WWE to turn the Nascar event into the main stream news being posted all over the Internet and Newspapers. Let's go racing boys.

The wild card is in play

Well the weekend that was in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series has come and gone. What is considered the biggest wild card race of the Chase for the cup came with many incidents and in the end and exciting would be pass for the lead in the closing moments. Many of the competitors chasing the series championship found troubles during the race and took series point hits, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick all found trouble on the track really only Carl Edwards can say he had something to do with his mess the others all casualities of Restrictor Plate Racing and caught up because of someone else's screw up. In the end Tony Stewart ended up in Victory Lane while a dejected Regan Smith sat pointing the finger at Nascar and their interpretation of the rules. Next weekend brings the half way point and a night race at Lowe's motorspeedway, what's going to come under the lights, well we will all have to wait and see.
