thinking pink

October turns us to the awareness month for brest cancer, this terrible disease strikes so many lives every year, and this is the month when so many companies throw their support behind raising funds and awareness of the battle to end Breast cancer forever. We can only hope and dream for a day when Breast Cancer is only something written about in history books.

Election Day

Well today is the Federal Election here in Canada, there have been many interesting stories over the last 36 days. As we all wait to see what the results will be it will an interesting night. Will the PC get the majority they so desperately wanted? Will the Liberal make a return to glory? Will the NDP build on their growth from the last election? It will be interesting to see what happens and in the long term what the consequences be after the night is over. There have been lots of promises made and normally that means there will be lots broken, good luck to all the candidates, may the best ones win.

Talledaga days

Well after the events at Talledaga last weekend it appears as though some have not forgiven and forgotten. Carl Edwards invaded Kevin Harvicks stall and the two exchanged heated words, at some point Harvick apparently tried to turn and walk away from the situation but Carl grabbed him and spun him around, according to pictures released it appears he grabbed Harvick by the throat and Harvick quickly put him off onto the hood of his #33 Nationwide Entry leaving some damage to the hood. Will we ever know the whole story, probably not but it did turn some extra interest onto the weekends event and probably helped the TV ratings. There's nothing like a little bit of the WWE to turn the Nascar event into the main stream news being posted all over the Internet and Newspapers. Let's go racing boys.

Economy in a downward spin

Chicken Little beware the sky really is falling, at least on wall street that is. Day after day all we here in the news is more jobs lost, the stock market hitting new lows and everything heading to a depression. Here's a thought for you do you think possibly the more we talk about this the more it gets in every ones mind and the system continues to spiral. It's like looking at the telephone pole when skidding out of control in an accident your going to hit the pole. If we all keep looking and talking about this downward spiralling economy we are going to make everyone a believer and be in for the worst times in recent memory. There's too much negative energy being spread and nothing....I mean nothing on the news that is positive at this point and time.

The wild card is in play

Well the weekend that was in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series has come and gone. What is considered the biggest wild card race of the Chase for the cup came with many incidents and in the end and exciting would be pass for the lead in the closing moments. Many of the competitors chasing the series championship found troubles during the race and took series point hits, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick all found trouble on the track really only Carl Edwards can say he had something to do with his mess the others all casualities of Restrictor Plate Racing and caught up because of someone else's screw up. In the end Tony Stewart ended up in Victory Lane while a dejected Regan Smith sat pointing the finger at Nascar and their interpretation of the rules. Next weekend brings the half way point and a night race at Lowe's motorspeedway, what's going to come under the lights, well we will all have to wait and see.

And the next President Is?

The polls all point to the gap widening between Obama and McCain, with Obama the favorite at this point. Many speculate that the widening gap is contributed to the miss-steps of Sarah Palin who is campaigning as McCain's running mate. There has been weeks of satire on SNL poking fun weekly at her campaign progress. Check out the full developing story from CNN

Soaring Gas Prices

Are you concerned about the raising costs of fuel and oil, is it having an impact on your daily life and in what ways. I know for us my wife is just starting a new job, she has been home for the last few years looking after our young children but with the raising costs of everything we were finding it more difficult to keep up with all the bills. I have been on vacation all week while she has been doing her orientation which needed a bit more flexibility than when she actually started working. This is going to have an impact on our family life for sure as we will basically be in the trade off mode where she is going to drop the kids off to me at work and walk down to her job. I will than pick her up around midnight come home and get to sleep to be ready for work. The nice thing about this year is that our younger kids school has changed it's hours and the kids get out early in the afternoon 1:45 and 2 so at least mom gets to spend some time with the kids in the afternoon. The kids have activities almost every night of the week so that makes for some extra running too. It will be busy but it's what we need to do as a family to make the budgets work.

Starting out on the Journey

Today is the first day of my journal, dedicating events from around the world that have influence on me. In any given day I will discuss current world events, from all over some in the neighborhood and some accross the sea. Politics, business, sports are all fair game and I might even pick on the kids and wife a little bit. I hope you are able to join me on my journey and can relate to the things I discuss. Drop me a comment and give some feed back on topics or give me idea's on different things you'd like to see my opinion on, I love to share my opinion.LOL.
